कविता का हिन्दी अनुवाद

प्रस्तुत कविता के कवि विलियम अर्नेस्ट हेनली हैं। इंगलैण्ड के कवि
थे जिनकी कविताओं से महान नेल्सन मंडेला ने भी प्रेरणा पायी थी।
प्रस्तुत कविता में कवि ने आत्मा की अमरता और हर पीड़ा से
परे-स्वतंत्र होने के भाव को व्यक्त किया है। कवि के जीवन में कई कठिन
परिस्थितियाँ आयीं पर वह घबड़ाया नहीं. डरा नहीं और इसके फलस्वरूप
उसकी यह महान कविता साहित्य की अमानत बनी।
कवि कविता की शुरूआत करते लिखता है-काली रात जो धरती के
एक ध्रुव से दूसरे ध्रुव तक फैली है-उस काली रात में जबकि धरती एक
गहरे अँधेरे गढ्ढे में डूबी नजर आती है-उस भयंकर रात से भी मेरी आत्मा
डरी नहीं। इसके लिए देवताओं को धन्यवाद ।
कवि आगे लिखता है कि परिस्थितियों की विकटता ने उसे पीड़ा तो
काफी पहुँचाई पर वह चीखा नहीं, न डरा । उसका सिर खून से लहुलुहान
तो जरूर हुआ, पर झुका नहीं।
इस कष्टकारी दुनिया में उस स्थान पर जहाँ सिर्फ उसे रोष और आँसू
मिले, यातनाएँ मिलीं- आतंक के साये में जीना पड़ा, पर उसे खुशी है इस
बात की, कि वह डरा नहीं।
अंत में कवि कहता है-मुझे इस बात की बेहद खुशी है कि मेरे जीवन में
कितनी भी भयंकर विपदा आयो, कैसी भी कष्टकारी यातनाओं का दौर झेलना
पड़ा, शरीर को जैसी भी. जितनी भी पीड़ाएँ मिली, पर मेरी आत्मा डरी नहीं-मैं
अपनी आत्मा का स्वयं मालिक हूँ और अपने भाग्य का स्वयं रचयिता हूँ।

Invictus (इनविक्टस)= अपराजित | Unconquerable
(अनकनवरेबल) = जिसे जीता न जा सके. अपराजेय | Clutch (क्लच)
= जकड़, पकड़। Winced (विन्स्ड)= पीड़ा से सिकुड़ना, चौंकना
(हिचकना) | Bludgeoning (ब्लजनिंग)= लाठी या सोंठे से मारा गया।
Wrath (रैथ)= क्रोध, रोष, गुस्सा । Looms (लूम्स) = यहाँ लुढ़कना,
लुढ़का । Menace (मीनेस) = व्यवहार | Strait (स्ट्रेट) = कठिन
परिस्थिति । Chance (चान्स) = अवसर, मौका । Circumstance
(सरकम्सटान्स)= परिस्थिति । Horror (हॉरर) = आतंक | Soul (सोल)
= आत्मा।

Ans. The poet thanks God for his unconquerable soul.

Ans. the poet faces difficult situation in his early life but
shows great courage and strength. He is unafraid of difficult

attitude towards life. He never cried when he got injured.
